As part of the bug reported to MG (case# 00052336) learned how to enable visibility of the sort filter indicator on column heads for user:
MG commented:
... It is located in the miscellaneous system configurations Admin>Current Company>Configurations>Miscellaneous. And is called "List Screens: Show Filter".
This feature has been turned on at Transportation level.
